Aphrodisiacs increase sexual desire

Aphrodisiacs increase sexual desire

Aphrodisiacs are substances that increase the sex drive. Their name comes from Aphrodite - the Greek goddess of sex and love. During human history, many foods and drinks have won a reputation for being sexual stimulators with the ability to promote sexual desire and the feeling of delight.
Although, it has been scientifically proven that some substances help people to raise their libido and to perform better during sex, the western medicine doesn’t recognize many beliefs that the food or some extract can increase the sexual drive and improve the performance in bed.
Testosterone and its relation to aphrodisiacs
Libido is often related to the levels of sex hormones, particularly testosterone. In case of less desire in individuals with considerably lower levels of testosterone (like women after menopause or men above 50), the supplements that lead to an increase in its production could be quite useful and effective. The approach to combine several precursors is a good way to increase testosterone levels in elderly men.

Yohimbine is a major alkaloid of Yohimbe. It basically acts as alpha-andrenergic antagonist, which means that it can increase blood flow to human genitals and in the same time to intensify the sexual sensitivity and excitement.
The use of Yohimbe extract in the form of supplement must be done only with caution! The unrefined extract contains several active alkaloids, except Yohimbine. The side effects caused by its implementation can lead to raised pulse, sweating, and stronger thermogenesis.
Significantly, Yohimbe extract often participates in pre-workout complexes for fat reduction - fat burners. Pharmaceutical forms of Yohimbine could also cause such side effects, but only when used in really big doses compared to the normal ones. We can offer different types of Yohimbe both the unrefined version as well as the form, containing only Yohimbe.
Popular aphrodisiac in Mexico - this plant is grown for its leaf and stem extracts. One of the advantages is the ability to impact as a natural aphrodisiac both on men and women. Its work is complex. The main effect comprises hormonal changes in the body, thus provoking more active sex life. The herb is used to treat specific menstrual disorders, as well as to help overcome the stress before the actual sexual act.

It is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands - necessary for the creation of both testosterone and estrogen. In women DHEA reaches its peak in 20s and gradually starts to diminish in 30s, 40s, and 50s. The low DHEA can lead to many degenerative problems, one of which is the low libido. During and after menopause, DHEA can be used as a natural precursor for stimulation of normal levels of reproductive hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone. These hormones influence directly the woman sexual health and fertility.
DHEA can be implemented as a treatment in cases of sexual dysfunction or frigidity in women. The use by men is not proven by research, that’s why it is recommended to be used predominately by women.
Gingko biloba
Gingko seeds and leaves can “raise” the self-confidence in men and direct the blood to the right places. Again, those of us who could benefit most of all from this plant extracts, are the elderly. We want to stress that, as Gingko biloba impacts the blood circulation, the herb must be used with caution by hemophiliacs or people treated with anticoagulants. After intake, it is possible to observe a longer, stable reaction and focus during the act.

The aromatic dry roots of Gingseng have been used as aphrodisiacs in Asia and have incredible energy stimulating properties. Supposedly, Gingseng contains a steroid like substance, known as tretracycline triterpenoid saponin. Known also as ginsenosides, these substances increase the physical performance and optimize the energy consumption during physical activity. It is believed that Gingsen can impact hypothalamus by increasing plasma levels of corticosteroids and corticoids, which on the other hand influence the sexual drive and the feeling of delight caused by the act itself.

During a clinical study, which was estimating the effectiveness of Korean red gingsen in people with erectile dysfunction was proven that 60% of 90 men with ED report for considerable improvement of their performance after an intake of pure Gingsen.
Chinese medical text dated to 4th century mentions different exotic recipes with Gingsen, which increase the sexual appetite. According to the ancient source Shen Nung, one of the first Chinese emperors, who had some experience with alchemy, noted the feeling of heat and sexual delight after chewing root of Gingseng. The roots were also part of Taoists sexual rituals, which thought that sex without ejaculation reflects the recovery of human body and maintenance of balance between Yin and Yang.

This amino-acid is found mainly in fish, peanuts, and beans. It increases the amount of nitrogen oxide in blood flow and accelerates it. Due to the fact that the erection needs a blood influx in the male sexual organ, L-arginine theoretically works as a remedy in case of impotence. Use it in moderate doses, because arginine shows vasodilatation properties and people experiencing high blood pressure that took more than 1.5-2.0 grams at a time could feel dizziness.
Epimedium (Horny Goat Weed) increases levels of naturally produced testosterone. More about the herb you can read here.
Tribulus terestris
The initial research of this herb was focused on the possibility to use tribulus for the treatment of impotence. Later it was found that furastanol saponins in tribulus impact not only libido, but also the process of spermatogenesis in men and ovulation in women. After long studies, it occurs that the content of furostanol saponins in the herb, grown in Bulgaria, is times higher compared to those found in China and India.
